Editor’s Selections: How NOT to quit smoking, publish a journal, hand-off patients, and help your child learn

  • How to stop smoking.  The vast majority of people who quit smoking do so without the use of drugs or other treatment aids, yet unassisted smoking cessation is hardly ever the focus of research.  What gives?
  • Editorial support, CME, and the Primary Care Companion.  Clinical Psychology and Psychiatry: A Closer Look examines a journal that is “so bad, it’s good”.
  • Fumbling the communication baton in patient hand-offs.  Remember the game “telephone” where you whisper a sentence in someone’s ear, they then whisper it to someone else, and eventually the message gets completely changed?  A new study suggests that patient hand-offs between physicians are pretty similar.
  • Do baby Einstein DVDs work? New research suggests that they may not be just ineffective – they may actually delay language development.

Make a list of reasons it will be hard to quit. Wow, I sound so negative so far which I am sorry for but bear with me! Honesty is gigantic part of overcoming an addiction to nicotine & cigarettes because lots of people try to quit without being honest with themselves first & those people usually fail on that attempt. So write down a list of reasons you think might make it hard to quit or the reasons you know from experience have made it harder.

“This too will come to pass.” I have quit twice for extended periods of time after smoking over a pack a day. I quit cold turkey but if necessary get an aid to help you, your health should be priority so make it a job to quit (which we all know it is). Just keep in mind that the urges are just urges and they too will come to pass. Eventually until they no longer exist.

Making a list of why to stop smoking is a good idea. I have trying to get my dad to stop for years. I guess he doesn’t have enough reasons to stop. This post helps me to create more reasons for him to quit the habit. Thanks alot.

Taking on an allotment plot is a stimulating experience, but to the novice gardener it may seem like a overwhelming task After waiting for many months or even years, you get the phone call you didn’t believe you’d receive; in fact you probably forgot it was coming. You have reached the top of the waiting list and that you are now eligible for a plot. you are now 30 years older, do you realy want it now

I’ve had a number of e-mails about advertising. FB doesn’t allow adsense (or any contextual ads) but there are a ton of approved networks and most CPM companies won’t ever cause a problem.

You are judging Seth William’s as if he were a free agent – he’s not – he has to deal with the Philadelphia Police. If he acts too harshly – he will lose the support of those policemen who are willing to act under legal constraints.
