Parallel Tempering Algorithm with OpenMP / C

Parallel tempering is one of my favourite sampling algorithms to improve MCMC mixing times. This algorithm seems to be used exclusively on distributed memory architectures using MPI and remains unexploited on shared memory architectures such as our office computers, which have up to eight cores.
